Solar Power As Alternative Energy

SOLAR POWER AND OPPORTUNITIES UTILIZATION
AS AN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY (REPLACEMENT OR SUPPLEMENTARY ENERGY)
ELECTRICAL ENERGY USE OF STATE POWER COMPANY (PLN)

SHOULD WE DEPEND ON ELECTRICAL PLN?
One of the programs of rural development programs initiated by the Government is Electric Log Village. Although the program is very good for equity electricity needs of society, but it is unfortunate because the program can not be implemented optimally, because until now there has been all the remote villages to have power. In addition to the need for the road to mobility / transportation, demand for electricity has become a vital necessity of our societies. The importance of community needs for electricity is proven by the assumption in most of our rural communities: they have not yet enjoyed the brightness of an independent power.
Today, with the State Electricity Company (PLN), impressed electrical needs only a domain (authority) PLN alone. So that PLN is the only national company that monopolized power in terms of meeting the needs of society, therefore the task, he was given access to the widest by the government to harness the full potential of the country's natural resources in order to provide electrical power. Dependence on electricity power makes electricity consumers can not do much when his service PLN was not optimal, such as frequent power outages walkin off with a variety of reasons, a rolling blackouts, and others. On the one hand the public (consumers) are required to pay monthly electricity bill obligations in an orderly manner, but on the other hand the public's right to obtain electrical service satisfactory to date can not be met PLN management. Not to mention there are claims of members of the public would damage electronic equipment (TV, AC, Refrigerators / refrigerator, etc.) as a result of electricity outages suddenly. Is the PLN willing to risk the claim. Then how mechanisms claims?. With unresolved issues to signal that we are actually colonized by PLN in the use of electrical energy. In such circumstances, the question we must answer is whether we will continue to rely on the supply of electricity?, While the ability of PLN to supply the electricity needs of the entire community is very limited. For urban areas are the installation has been installed properly, there is still some disruption / outage (either because of damage to power machines, network maintenance or for other non-technical interference), especially in areas far inland, because of the far / long network of power sources it will be more prone to electrical interference or interruption of non-technical installations.
Although Indonesia has many natural resources that can be used as a power source, the high supply power to rural areas because in addition to the management of power source / power plant requires a large investment, it also takes a huge cost in terms of network construction to reach the homes of consumers . The cost of building the network is not a little, especially with severe topography and the distance between the power plant to the end customer. In such conditions, it is time our society is not dependent on electricity supplied by PLN. There must be other options as an alternative source of electrical energy, especially for rural areas which are far-reaching of generating electricity. Today, a wide selection has begun in many of our rural areas, among others, by utilizing the flow of water to generate electricity (hydroelectric power), others use wind energy (wind power). There also are starting to use biogas (utilizing manure), or using a generator for generating electrical energy.

SOLAR POWER ENERGY AS AN ALTERNATIVE
One option that has been developed, but not yet implemented is optimal to exploit the potential of the sun as a source of electrical energy (solar electricity). And we all know that Indonesia is a tropical country on the path / track equator across the country which is good from Sabang to Merauke get full sunlight throughout the year. The potential energy of the sun is very large and almost uniformly in all parts of Indonesia, when compared with the potential of coal, petroleum, geothermal, water, or wind which only certain regions. Utilization of solar energy is not only likely to be used in rural areas, but also can be used for residential scale (any house) in the urban areas that had previously been received power available, ie as a backup energy (renewable energy) or as a complement to the energy power available.
As an energy reserve / replacement means that if the source of electricity was down, it can be used as a backup solar power while awaiting repair or installation of electricity generation. As a complement to energy means that the energy of solar power can be used in conjunction with energy electricity. For example, for the scale of housing, electricity demand for lighting in the rooms (bedroom, living room, bathroom / WC, etc.) at night supplied from solar energy, while for other needs such as televisions, refrigerators, air conditioning, iron, or other electronic devices use electrical energy supplied to PLN.
With the use of solar energy is the energy simultaneously with electricity, in addition to lacking electricity overload power (especially at night), can also reduce our monthly electric bill (more cost effective). Costs incurred for the installation of solar power only at the beginning of installation only, then only the low maintenance costs due to the installation does not require a complex treatment.
By utilizing solar power as well as energy reserves and energy supplement, there are several advantages and benefits obtained, namely:
1. We have helped reduce damage to the environment, due to the use of this clean energy, are environmentally friendly, does not cause air pollution and noise, as caused by the use of electrical energy derived from petroleum or coal.
2. We helped inhibit the rate of depletion of our natural resources for electricity generation (oil, coal, etc.), so that natural resources can be used more effectively and efficiently and can be passed down to future generations.
3. Do not overload power electricity, so power is limited electricity that can be streamed / used more effectively and efficiently to other areas, or other sectors that require electrical power is stable and strong.
4. Does not require complex treatment and high cost as electricity, so it is suitable for large-scale households in both rural and urban areas.
5. With the use of this energy then our dependence on electricity supply will decrease, so the electric energy needs can still be met throughout the day / any time, even when his commercial power to crash. (Author : yosef Kota)
